Brief:
Destination Asia Thailand received a brief from an incentive house in Australia to create a program for 40 pax from a well-known transportation company. The delegates were the company’s leading sales achievers, traveling first to Singapore and then KohSamui on their incentive. The program did pose some logistical challenges as the group was journeying on the luxurious Eastern & Oriental Express from Singapore to Bangkok, with the plan to then fly to KohSamui. However, with the train arriving late in the day, it would not be possible to arrive in KohSamui before sunset as desired.
Challenges:
To solve the challenge of arriving in time for sunset on KohSamui, Destination Asia made arrangements for a charter flight from Hua Hin to the island. The flight had sufficient capacity for the delegates but not their luggage, so Destination Asia staff collected their luggage from E&O Express at Surat Thani Province before sending it by ferry to the island, where it would be ready on their arrival. This alteration to the schedule resulted in the group having an extra few hours before boarding the flight at Hua Hin. There was then sufficient time to board the flight and arrive with a few hours to relax before sunset on KohSamui.
Client feedback:
The result was excellent. A great success and very happy with the end result. There was a worry we would not arrive in time for the sunset on KohSamui, but in fact we arrived with time to spare and our bags were already delivered.
Brief:
To see the world of Burma through the eyes of a medical professional. They also requested to visit a local Yangon hospital dedicated to caring for monks and nuns, as well as making stops at local medical clinics in Inle Lake and Bagan.
Challenges:
There is a lot of legal and official red-tape in Burma regarding any kinds of special requests that include government bodies such as hospitals, universities, schools etc. Destination Asia Burma/Myanmar worked many months in advance and were successful in organizing the appropriate permissions for this group to access these medical facilities.
We also made special arrangements with a local optician in Bagan who, following a generous donation were able to take prescriptions and supply 100 pairs of glasses for young orphans from Zaytawun Monastery Orphanage. Several members of the group also made independent arrangements to volunteer time and services in local clinics prior to the group’s arrival. They also requested to make donations of cash and supplies.
The group chartered the luxurious Belmond Road to Mandalay river cruise ship, sailing between Mandalay and the ancient capital city of Bagan. On visiting Inle Lake, delegates participated in a number of incentive activities, including volunteer work at a local medical clinic, dining at an above-water traditional Inthar home and cheering on a competitors from the lake’s most revered leg-rowing teams.
Client Feedback:
The client was particularly appreciative of all the additional extra touches made by Destination Asia and the exceptional attention to detail.
Brief:
A high end incentive for a group that had just returned from a trip to Italy where they had a gala dinner at the Vatican, so the expectations were very high.
Challenges:
200 people is a large incentive group size for Japan, but we were able to find some amazing venues such as the Happo-en gardens in Tokyo, and arrange a complete rent-out of the Toji temple, a UNESCO world heritage site in Central Kyoto.
Client Feedback:
Combining this with some of the best entertainment possible in Japan, such as high-class geisha and professional taiko drumming, we were successful in exceeding the client’s expectations. A little extra was an impromptu rent-out of a local sports bar where the entire group saw the All Blacks rugby team win over their opponents. The clients loved every single moment of the trip and fell in love with the endearing culture of Japan. The organizing agent house was equally impressed, later commenting, “Thank you so much for all the work… and the extra touches that your team put into place to help make the Japan trip such a success. Everyone loved Japan!”
Brief:
An immersion in Vietnamese culture away from bright city lights.
Result:
Our team in Vietnam created a private village communitywithin a local rice plantation situated between Hoi AnandDanang. Destination Asia literally transported guests back to a world where the rice harvest was (and still is) considered the event of the year for local inhabitants. Surrounded by ambient lighting, the area was transformed into a microcosm of all things Vietnamese.
The sit-down gala dinner was catered by a local restaurant renowned for its authentic and high quality cuisine - no expense was spared on the comfort and standard of the dining experience. One of the greatest challenges faced was the fact the entire venue had to be built from scratch for the event.
Our dedicated team has a good relationship with the local farmers and assisted them in caring for the rice, ensuring it was vivid green and lush on the day of the event. The rice field event is a very rare arrangement and due to the high costs will only appeal to those on a particularly high budget – it is also restricted to the rice cropping season of March-May and July-September.
Client Feedback:
Feedback from the client was that it was well worth the investment for the impact. The scale of the project and the cultural richness that was portrayed during the evening exceeded the group’s expectations and allowed an appreciation of Vietnamese traditions.
